The Pink Hippo Explained
Pink Hippo, Purple Cow.
Marketer Seth Godin uses the example of a purple cow to explain the importance of being remarkable. That is, if you saw a herd of cows and among them was a purple cow, you'd likely stop what you were doing and take a closer look. I don't have a purple cow, but I do have a pink hippo (which, by the way, is an actual rare hippo spotted in Kenya). My pink hippo has been with me since I was born, and like all childhood treasures it's irreplaceable. So keeping it near and dear to my heart, I've named my business after it.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) and Certificate in Public Relations, I worked several administrative jobs. Finally ready to take some risks, I quit my job and decided to pursue a full-time marketing career a few years ago.
In all things, I’m guided by these few words: “be kind, truthful, and fearless” – Ghandi.
I’m working on the fearless part right now, but as Jim Carrey once famously said, “you can fail at what you don’t want...so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love.”
This is what I love, so this where I am.
